MSACL Presenter Biography

Theodore Alexandrov
University of Bremen / SCiLS / UCSD

After PhD in mathematics in St. Petersburg in 2007, I moved to Germany for a postdoc at the Center for Industrial Mathematics, University of Bremen. Since then, my research is focused on creating new bioinformatics for mass spectrometry, in particular, for imaging mass spectrometry. My developments led to foundation in 2010-2012 of the Life Science Group at Center for Industrial Mathematics, an interdisciplinary MALDI Imaging Lab at Departments of Biochemistry and Mathematics (National Core Facility since 2013), and two spin-offs Steinbeis Innovation Center SCiLS Research and SCiLS GmbH. Since 2010, I’m a visiting researcher at University of California San Diego. Since 2012, I’m the coordinator of the EU FP7 HEALTH project 3D-MASSOMICS with 8 partners from 6 countries. Since 2013, I’m a guest editor of PLoS Computational Biology and an organizer of Bremen Mass Spectrometry Seminar.
