Soumen Manna
National Cancer Institute, USA

I received my bachelors and masters degrees in chemistry from University of Calcutta, India. I received my Ph.D. in Chemical Science from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, India in 2008 where I worked on elucidation of structure-function relationship and engineering of metalloproteins. During my postdoctoral research at the Laboratory of Metabolism, NCI, I have used mass spectrometry to identify biomarkers for pathogenesis and environmental exposure. I have also combined it with transcriptomics and other complementary approaches to elucidate the underlying mechanism and gene function. Apart from method development for metabolite extraction, analysis and data analysis, I have also synthesized and characterized novel metabolites. In addition, I am involved in metagenomics and dietary supplements research.
