Zdenek Spacil
University of Washington

Zdenek Spacil received MSc in pharmacy and dual PhD in analytical chemistry from Charles University in Prague and Stockholm University, Sweden. His doctoral research focuses contained neurodegenerative diseases and comprehensive analyses of polyphenols using modern separation science and mass spectrometry (MS). Later he joined University of Washington (UW) developing tandem MS assays for clinical enzymology. He was the key scientist on collaborative project introducing the 9-plex assay for lysosomal enzymes in dried blood spots. Next Dr. Spacil joined the Institute for Systems Biology to work on development of SRM assays screening for disease markers of tuberculosis and deploy them to clinical samples. Most recently Dr. Spacil accepted an offer from UW and returned to contribute new ideas and continue his work on newborn screening project.
