MSACL Presenter Biography

Julia Balog
Imperial College London

I have completed an MSc in Molecular and Neurobiology and an MSc in Computer Engineering and Mathematics in Budapest, Hungary. During my studies in 2009 I started working with Zoltan Takats on Rapid Evaporative Ionization Mass Spectrometry (REIMS), and have continued working on the project since then. My PhD investigated the principles and surgical applications of REIMS, and I received this award in 2013. After finishing my PhD I moved to Imperial College London as a post-doctoral scientist and continued working on the iKnife project. I have further developed the REIMS method and co-ordinated the introduction of this technology to clinical practice with it's use during surgical procedures. I am currently responsible for all human surgical data collection and data analysis for this project.
