MSACL Presenter Biography

James Bollinger
University of Washington - Genome Sciences

Prior to graduate school, I spent a number years employed in an academic laboratory as a research scientist. Observing an obvious trend of the expanding implementation of mass spectrometry into biochemical analysis, I endeavored to include a basic training in the technology in any of my future studies. My graduate school efforts, performed in the lab of Michael H. Gelb, focused on the development and application of novel analytical techniques for the profiling of bioactive lipids. For my postdoctoral studies in the lab of Michael J. MacCoss, I continued to utilize the LC-MS/MS analytical platform but instead shifted my focus to the analysis of proteins. I have applied this experience in LC-MS/MS assay design to help characterize the relative abundance and kinetic profiles of multiple clinically relevant proteins.
