Transition from Immunoassays to Mass Spectrometry Assays: What Should We Expect?
Mon 11:30 AM - Session: Small Molecule Analytes
Frank Z. Stanczyk
In the last 35 years or so, the radioimmunoassay (RIA) method with preceding organic solvent extraction and Celite or Sephadex column chromatography steps (extraction/chromatographic RIA) has remained essentially the same for quantifying steroid hormones in serum in countless studies, yielding data that have enriched the field of endocrinology with new knowledge. In addition, this method has played an important role in measurements of a variety of steroid hormones used for diagnostic testing in clinical laboratories. Although the extraction/chromato
