View Long Abstract
The need for global standardization and harmonization in laboratory medicine is essential for consistency and to improve the quality of patient care. The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) develops standards and guidelines by using international experts to help laboratories world-wide in implementing best practices. This talk will describe the process of standards and guideline development, participation in the development and implementation of documents, examples of clinical applications and use of the documents, and how standards and guidelines may be adopted by accrediting agencies to create consistency and improve the quality of care.
