Clinical Research Applications of MALDI-TOF Mass Spectrometry: Sepsityper for Rapid ID of Microorganisms from Positive Blood Culture; MALDI Molecular Imaging for Biomarker Discovery and Drug Imaging
Lunch and Learn Industrial Workshop; Tuesday 12:45 - 1:45
Bruker
Executive 1
Sepsis is a dangerous form of infection, confirmed by performing a blood culture, after which identification of the microorganism and antiobiotic susceptibility testing are required. Current biochemical methods for identification can take from 12-36 hours after positive blood culture is detected. Results from the Research Use Only (RUO) Sepsityper kit, which can be used with the Bruker Daltonics MALDI Biotyper to obtain identification within minutes from a positive blood culture will be presented.
The Bruker Daltonics MALDI Molecular Imaging solution (RUO) can be used to image peptides, proteins, lipids, and xenobiotics in tissue slices. Applications to be presented include biomarker discovery, and drug distribution studies.
