View Long Abstract
The analytical power of mass spectrometry has powered many of the insights into the mechanisms underlying various diseases, from diagnostics to the therapeutics to resolve them. Life sciences is faced with the broader challenge of preventing diseases before they occur, literally maintaining and protecting the health of the entire population. Such a goal will place new demands on the analytical platforms that propel scientific research and even more importance on the implementation of these tools. Mass spectrometry will continue to be at the heart of health research and will be a central analytical platform as personal measurements become a core element of routine health care.
