View Long Abstract
Synthetic cannabinoids are legally being sold as “herbal incense” under a wide variety of names including Spice, K2, Space, K2 Citron, and K2 Blonde. Literature reports and analyses in our laboratory have identified the analytes in these herbal mixtures to include, but not limited to JWH-018; JWH-073; JWH-250; HU-210; CP 47,497; and JWH-200. With very little information on the human pharmacodynamics of these compounds we performed in-vitro and in-vivo (rat) studies as initial probes to characterize metabolism. Human studies using JWH-018 and JWH-073 were conducted with blood, urine and oral fluid samples collected and tested using LC-MS/MS and LC-MSTOF.
