View Long Abstract
We evaluated ultraperformance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) as a targeted screening method for drug of abuse. UPLC-MS/MS for screening for toxicants showed that the within-run precision, representing distribution with coefficient of variation <15% in all compounds except caffeine, was acceptable. Total 73 drugs and their metabolites were confirmed from 50 urine specimens. Twenty-eight of 73 drugs were detected only by UPLC-MS/MS, and other 18 drugs were proved only by Remedi. The characteristics of UPLC-MS/MS including high sensitivity, specificity, adequate precision as well as rapid chromatographic run time will allow to be a alternative diagnostic methods of screening toxicants.
