| While considered the ‘gold standards’ in toxicology screening analysis, immunoassay and GC/MS present some challenges to laboratories that need to achieve higher throughput, and specific, accurate and precise screening results. Ultra performance liquid chromatography with time of flight mass spectrometry (UPLC/ToF) was introduced into our laboratory in 2007. A screening method was developed to detect a panel of more than 300 analytes for forensic purposes and a panel of 82 analytes for compliance monitoring purposes. This screening methodology allows for significant decreases in analyte detection limits, specimen preparation time, instrument run time, and data review time. |
