| The MassCode PCR System enables the accurate and sensitive simultaneous detection of several different pathogens in a multiplex assay. Pathogen-specific primers labeled with small tags are used to amplify RNA or DNA. The tags are cleaved from pathogen-specific amplicons by UV light and detected by mass spectrometry. The system was successfully tested with archived clinical samples previously identified to contain viral or bacterial pathogens. Multiplex primer sets designed for microbial panels can be used with the MassCode PCR System to identify pathogens from a range of samples. |
