Evaluation of technologies and techniques in our laboratory have provided key insight into the challenges and solutions required to ameliorate these competing variables to provide for appropriate analysis of steroid hormones at physiological concentrations in the clinical setting.
The following will be described; extraction to resolve 4,5-delta steroids, tunable liquid extraction protocols for resolution of steroid interferents, automated SLE workflows, which steroids MUST be resolved and why water losses are inappropriate, 1D/2D-LC protocols - when and why, APPI technology - when and why, transition ratio monitoring and why it doesn't always help and open-access steroid measurement at >2000 samples daily.
