| Numerous bacterial, protozoan and viral pathogens of human and animals are unculturalable creating a challenge for their diagnostic detection. Many of these pathogens are spread by arthropod vectors. Ibis biosciences has developed a PLEX-ID broad-range PCR and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry assay for the detection of unculturable vector-borne bacterial, protozoan and viral pathogens. Results will be presented on the detection of pathogens from a variety of specimen types including veterinary, human and arthropod specimens. The assay is especially adept at detecting co-infections. |
