Oregon Health & Science University, a nationally recognized academic health center, provides an uncommon array of clinical services, education and research opportunities. We are currently seeking an extraordinary individual to fill this position at the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC). As one of the seven National Primate Research Centers in the United States, our mandate as a Center is to provide Nonhuman Primate (NHP) resources for the very best scientific programs, both within the Oregon Health & Science University community and beyond. We are located in Beaverton, Oregon, approximately 12 miles west of Portland and home to approximately 5300 nonhuman primates (NHPs).

Applications are invited for a Senior Research Assistant in the Endocrine Technologies Core (ETC)

The preferred candidate will have majored in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field, and have a minimum of a B.S. degree with three years of experience performing hormone assays in a laboratory setting. Experience operating an LC-MS/MS instrument is required.

Position Purpose:
Perform assays for analysis of protein hormones, steroid hormones, cytokines, and other biological molecules in samples of different forms and from different species, including using an LC-MS/MS platform, an automated clinical immunoassay platform, multiplex assays on a Luminex platform, and ELISA. Development, validation, and integration of new LC-MS/MS methods; acquisition and validation of commercial assay kits for hormones not currently offered by the ETC; communicating with researchers, including intake of new assay requests and reporting assay results; participating in strategic planning for ETC operations, purchasing and quality control documentation, waste disposal management; monitoring quality controls, planning and scheduling of workload, troubleshooting, providing operation support to other staff.
