Job Description
The Senator Frank R. Lautenberg Environmental Health Sciences Laboratory in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (New York City) seeks applicants for a position that will involve analysis of human matrices for biomarkers. This position will provide assistance in liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS) analysis in support of both research and service activities to quantify biomarkers of exposure to environmental chemicals in human matrices.

Primary Job Responsibilities
• Perform sample preparation for various types of clinical (urine, blood/plasma/serum) and experimental matrices, using automated systems.
• Perform LC/MS analysis of the extracts.
• Assist in data collection, analysis and interpretation.
• Support specimen storage and inventory maintenance and other routine laboratory functions.

Job Requirements
Education: Degree in Chemistry.
• BS with two years of experience in an analytical or relevant laboratory is required.
• MS (Analytical or Organic or Environmental), one year of experience is preferred.
• Ph.D. is considered but not encouraged due to technical nature of the position.

Experience
• Proficiency in sample preparation using solid-phase and liquid-liquid extractions is required.
• Be able to operate and maintain LC/MS.
