Richard Smith
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory

Dick Smith is a Battelle Fellow and Chief Scientist within the Biological Sciences Division at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. His research interests include the development of advanced analytical methods and instrumentation, with particular emphasis on high resolution separations and mass spectrometry, and their applications in biological and biomedical research. He is Director of Proteomic and Pan-omic Research at PNNL, and the Director of the NIH Research Resource for Integrative Proteomics. He is the author/co-author of more than 875 peer-reviewed journal articles and recipient of 44 patents. Other awards and recognition include nine R&D 100 Awards and R&D Magazine 2010 Scientist of the Year, HUPO Discovery Award for Proteomic Sciences (2009), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Proteomics & Bioinformatics, and American Chemical Society Award for Analytical Chemistry (2003).
