Bio: Will Thompson is the Assistant Director for the Duke Proteomics and Metabolomics Shared Resource, led by Professor Arthur Moseley. Will leads the core’s metabolomics efforts which include targeted and unbiased metabolomics, and is also a Research Assistant Professor in Pharmacology and Cancer Biology at Duke. He received his Ph.D. at UNC-Chapel Hill under the direction of Jim Jorgenson in 2006 and has been at Duke since 2007. Will is a co-instructor for the Practical LC-MS Troubleshooting and Maintenance Short Course at MSACL and at annual American Society for Mass Spectrometry (ASMS) meeting.

Short Abstract

Often the most intimidating portion of troubleshooting an instrument problem is getting started. It doesn’t have to be scary! A planned, systematic troubleshooting approach can make all the difference. In this session, we will open with a description of a few strategies to begin isolation of a wide variety of instrument problems, then we will use case studies to demonstrate the use of these tactics to quickly diagnose the most likely cause of a problem.
