Abstract

As more laboratories continue to bring up mass spectrometry-based tests, this presentation will summarize some of the technical considerations, clinical issues, and financial requirements that are important to determine if therapeutic drug targets should be analyzed using this technology. The advantages and disadvantages of using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) versus traditional immunoassays for drugs will be discussed. In addition, this session will also discuss future opportunities and targets for TDM testing using mass spectrometry.
