Ultragenyx is seeking an analytical senior scientist with a collaborative and innovative mindset to join our Bioanalytical Research team in Novato, CA. The leading candidate will bring a proven breadth of experience in mass spectrometry-based ‘omics with a focus on targeted methods and an interest in protein structure and function. Your interest in translational science will inspire you as a technical leader responsible for advancing Ultragenyx pre-clinical research with world class analytical chemistry.

In this high-profile role, you will be expected to interact and collaborate across functions and physical sites within Ultragenyx. Your ability to analyze complex data sets and communicate essential bioanalytical information to a broad team of stakeholders will be a key strength.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Bioanalytical Research, the Senior Scientist the role may also involve management activities of group members.

We will assess your level based on your experience before moving forward with full panel interviews.

Work Model:
Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site and thus will be subject to certain on-site safety protocols during the pandemic.

Responsibilities:
Development and deployment of comprehensive mass spectrometry (LC-MS) workflows to provide quantitative proteomic, metabolomic and chemical biological insights to Ultragenyx pre-clinical research efforts.
Proactive collaboration and engagement with research teams to assess analytical needs and deliver actionable data from a diverse set of sample types.
Effective communication across the organization to leadership, team members, peers and the broader scientific community.
Serve as a leader or departmental representative on project teams.
Active awareness of drug discovery and translational science literature related to Ultragenyx projects and platforms to enhance our ability to advance novel therapeutics.
Advocate for and build best-in-class analytical capabilities and strategies that advance Ultragenyx therapeutic programs.
Promote an open, curious, flexible mindset in a highly dynamic company.
Write, prepare, and present technical data, technical reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for internal use and transfer to external sites. Deliver quality of documentation that meets regulatory requirements.

Requirements:
PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields with 5+ years’ experience inclusive of post-doctoral work (+10 years for Principal scientist)
Broad experience across mass spectrometry platforms and workflows with noted strength in targeted assay development and protein structure/function.
Comprehensive experience with proteomics workflows from specimen to interpreted data.
Strong capability in quantitative method development including performance characterization that meets stakeholder requirements.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with leadership, peers, team members, and external business partners.
Experience in leading and working with teams in a dynamic matrixed organization
Desire to work independently, maintain a high level of productivity, focus on priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced biopharmaceutical environment
