Educational Travel Grants support the conference attendance of non-commercial individuals who are generally early in their career and (1) have a strong potential for meaningful contribution, as determined by their submitted abstract and Grant application, or (2) are on track to lead a clinical laboratory and are interested in learning more about the pros and cons of mass spectrometry versus conventional methodologies.


Young Investigator Travel Grant

Abstract Submission Required.

This grant is for non-commercial individuals submitting abstracts on clinical mass spectrometry for either oral or poster presentations. Grants are targeted for the support of MD/residents/fellows, PhD students, post-docs, and young faculty members (fewer than 4 years since appointment).

This grant will cover:

  • Short Course Registration
  • Conference Registration.

Depending of the quality of your application, this grant MAY cover:

  • $100 per night in lodging costs (up to 6 nights from Saturday through Thursday night)

This grant DOES NOT cover:

  • Airfare.

Trainee Travel Grant

Abstract Submission NOT Required.

This grant is for non-commercial MD/Residents/Fellows, PhD students, Post-docs and young faculty members (fewer than 4 years since appointment) who are in training to direct a clinical Lab and are interested in acquiring a greater understanding of the value of mass spectrometry as a tool for use in the clinical laboratory setting.

This grant DOES cover:

  • Short Course Registration
  • Conference Registration

Depending of the quality of your application, this grant MAY cover:

  • Up to $100 per night in lodging costs (up to 6 nights from Saturday through Thursday night)

This grant DOES NOT cover:

  • Airfare.

Lab Director Travel Grant

Abstract Submission NOT Required.

This grant is for non-commercial Clinical Lab Directors who are aiming to get a better understanding of what mass spectrometry can do for their lab. The grant is targeted to those Lab Directors who have had minimal mass spec exposure, but all may apply.

This grant DOES cover:

  • Short Course Registration
  • Conference Registration

Depending of the quality of your application, this grant MAY cover:

  • Up to $200 per night in lodging costs (up to 6 nights from Saturday through Thursday night)

This grant DOES NOT cover:

  • Airfare.


Grant Requirements

Obligations of Grantees:

  • Short Course Attendance
  • Attendance at conference through Thursday (last day of conference).
  • Getting to know the Exhibitors. You are here because they are here. And they want to meet you. :)

Application Process

Please APPLY ONLINE for this Travel Grant by Sept 27, 2017.

You will be notified of your grant status via email by November 30.

Details of Covered Expenses

Meeting Registration:
Full conference and short course registration is included.

Accommodations (if covered):
You are responsible for booking your own accommodations and submitting receipts for reimbursement to chris.herold@msacl.org.

Airfare Reimbursement (if covered):
You are responsible for booking your own travel and submitting receipts to chris.herold@msacl.org for reimbursement.

Other:
Travel grants do not include a per-diem for food, travel or other expenses.

REIMBURSEMENT IS BY PAYPAL ONLY, TO BE COMPLETED within ~2 months of the close of the event (if receipts are submitted in a timely manner).
