Assignments finalized & Early Bird Deadline: May 11, 2018.
Corporate Workshops provide an opportunity for MSACL conference attendees to learn more about specific applications or products of interest as presented by sponsoring vendors.
The listed fee includes projector and screen. Microphone is included in Mozart and Papageno, but NOT in Paracelsus or Trakl.
These workshops are offered at no charge to attendees.
SUNDAY and AM WORKSHOPS:
(1) Sponsoring vendors may require that attendees register.
(2) Workshop registration must be managed by the Workshop host.
(3) Catering is recommended to increase attendance.
If the Sunday or AM workshop time is of interest, it is highly recommended that you plan to cater. Lunch can be economical with excellent deli-type sandwiches at ~4 euros each, or comprehensive with a buffet offering that starts at 30 euros per person (direct through Sheraton catering). Catering menu available on request. To promote workshop pre-registration*, which can then be used for providing catering guarantees, MSACL will be sending email notices regarding the Sunday and AM corporate workshop events that will include the workshop title and any catering^ to be offered by the host (^we have found this to be a significant attractant). Sunday and AM workshops can be restricted to pre- registrants only (important if you elect to cater your activity).

On the day of your event you will be provided a table, chair in front your booked rooms. You will also be permitted to place one piece of signage in front of the room up to 30 minutes prior to the event.

| Targeted Screening and Semi-Quantitation of Drugs in Plasma using High-Resolution Accurate-Mass Detection and Online Sample Preparation Sensitive and selective analytical methods are required in clinical research and forensic toxicology to properly identify a broad range of analytes in complex matrices. The existing methods need to be constantly updated as new compounds, such as designer drugs, become readily available to the illicit drug market. Liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS) has been widely used in this area for years. So far, the preferred detection technology has been triple quadrupole MS for its selectivity in selected reaction monitoring (SRM) mode. However, this approach suffers from the limitation of being able to perform only targeted analysis, while not being useful for unknown screening of new drugs. | A Clinical Method for Determination of Anti-Infectious Drugs in Serum Anders Blomgren Associate professor at Division of Clinical Chemistry and Pharmacology, Lund University The initiative for this work was taken by physicians from four different disciplines; intensive care, clinics for infection, thorax and transplantation. There has been an unmet need for these types of analysis and especially with short response times. A TDM wish list was produced that containing about 25 different anti-infection drugs and we agreed on starting to develop methods for 7 of them as a first step. | Fully Automated LC-MS – Theory becomes Reality The use of LC-MS in diagnostic pathology has been limited by the complexity of equipment, materials and skills required to establish a fully validated service. A review showed only 19% of respondents were running VitaminD using LC-MS. On the basis that this is the gold standard, a fully validated and simple-to-use mass spectrometer has been a long awaited development. This presentation shares the first practical experience of using the Thermo Scientific™ Cascadion™ SM Clinical Analyser, in a laboratory, where staff have no prior experience of using LC-MS technology. Automated LC-MS/MS: A disruptive technology will improve the quality of care for our patients The LC-MS/MS platform provides solutions to complex analytical problems for clinical routine laboratories. This development started decades ago and the technology has proven to deliver reliable results with unreached specificity in TDM, DoA testing, endocrine diagnostics and newborn screening. In this presentation the concept of a fully integrated and automated LC-MS/MS is described.
